PolyU Campus - Bridging Education, Innovation and Community

Overview of PolyU Campus- Prime Location amid the Asian Financial Hub

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was founded as the Government Trade School in 1937. Over the past eight decades, with the hard work of our committed members in the university, the education programme and campus of PolyU have been continuously evolving for the sake of the community we serve. The main campus of PolyU is situated in the heart of the modern city centre of Hung Hom. It covers 9.46 hectares of land adjacent to MTR Hung Hom Station and a cross-harbour tunnel in linkage with the Hong Kong Island. With its convenient location, PolyU campus gives you all the benefits of a city, as well as the perks of a well-equipped haven for your studies.

Buildings and Amenities - Full Support of Quality Learning and Teaching

The unique architectural style of the PolyU campus renders it one of the most remarkable institutions in Hong Kong. The red brick fa?ades mark the most distinctive characteristic of the PolyU campus. With the alphabetically named cylindrical cores and wings of each building, most parts of the PolyU campus are connected and therefore highly accessible. The buildings in PolyU house 8 faculties and schools, providing students with adequate and high-quality learning aids. We work hard on bringing improvements to the learning environment of the PolyU campus by introducing top-notch technology and equipment to our facilities. Being the brainchild of the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the Jockey Club Innovation Tower is reckoned as the hub of contemporary and state-of-the-art facilities for design education and innovation. On the other hand, the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of PolyU is placed the third in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. Wholly owned by PolyU as an extension of the SHTM, Hotel ICON in East Tsim Sha Tsui is the first teaching and research hotel of its kind in the world, integrating the skills learnt in classroom with real operations in the city.

PolyU places high value on the well-being of our students and other members of the university. Hence, in addition to traditional lecture rooms, laboratories and other academic facilities, PolyU campus is well equipped with recreational facilities such as multi-purpose auditorium, sports complex, football pitch, swimming pool, and open space like plazas and squares.

      Future Development Plans

In PolyU, we are committed to keeping abreast of the rapid developments in the world. In addition to our current campus building blocks and facilities, several projects are in progress for the betterment of our students and members. The library extension and revitalization project will create new space in the Pao Yue-Kong Library, which boasts one of the largest collections of scientific, engineering and business materials in East Asia. Away from the main campus of PolyU, potential campus expansion at Ho Man Tin will create more than 1,200 hostel places and other academic and teaching space. We are confident that with our continuous efforts on improving the hardware, students can benefit from a more comfortable and better-equipped campus.
